Why are we not editing Wikipedia articles?

Wikipedia is a general public reference source based on an encyclopedia model. Our wiki is indented to be used as a quick clinical reference by doctors specializing in psychiatry.
It is also meant to help doctors study for tests like the PRITE and the Boards; with this in mind, medical education and corresponding reading level is assumed and "high-yield" testable content is emphasized.

Terms, Usage, and Style

  • The terms "DSM" and "DSM-IV" refer to DSM-VI-TR, unless explicitly stated otherwise.
  • The term "youth" is used in its plural sense, and refers to children and adolescents before their 18th birthday.
  • Unlike the style adopted by the DSM, the names of the disorders are not capitalized, e.g. "posttraumatic stress disorder," not "Posttraumatic Stress Disorder."
